First Unitarian Society of Madison
About FUS Madison: The society is housed in the historic Unitarian Meeting House, designed by one of its members and the son of one of its founders, Frank Lloyd Wright. Wright was commissioned to design the Meeting House in 1946. Construction began in 1949 and was completed in 1951. It is recognized as one of the most innovative examples of church architecture. In 1960, the American Institute of Architects designated it one of seventeen buildings to be retained as an example of Wright's contribution to American culture. The Meeting House was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1973. In 2004, it was officially declared a National Historic Landmark by the National Park Service.

Reception

About the Children's Museum: We take play very seriously by engaging, challenging, and inspiring every visitor who comes through the Madison Children's Museum doors. The dedicated staff drives our mission by creating custom-crafted, award winning exhibits; providing programming that brings all ages together; and focusing on sustainability, from our parking lot to our rooftop. And, because we know how important play is to everyone, we're committed to assistance programs that allow all children to enjoy our learning playground.

Spend Your Saturday Checking Out Some Madison Specialties

  • Start your morning at the Dane Country Farmers Market. It's the largest producer only farmer's market in the US and takes place around the Capitol Square every Saturday morning Spring through Fall. Pick up coffee and a pastry, or hot spicy cheese bread and a meat stick, and take a seat on the Capitol lawns. Don't forget to try some cheese curds!
  • While you're on the Square, take a tour of the Capitol building.
  • Once you're done with the Capitol Square, wander down State Street, a pedestrian mall lined with unique shops and eating establishments.
  • State Street ends when it reaches the University of Wisconsin - Madison campus. Enjoy a Madison summer tradition by drinking a beer, or having some ice cream, at the Memorial Union Terrace.
